What smartphone you are using? Is it up to date or obsolete? Well, you may need to review this information if you’re too concerned about using WhatsApp.
According to a blog post by WhatsApp in February, support for the following mobile platforms will end after December 31…
The blog post further stated that, “While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.
This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.”
Hence users with older Android, iOS and Windows phones and others having feature phones with Symbian and BBOS will be unable to use WhatsApp. These phones won’t be completely blocked, but a lot of upcoming features won’t be available.
WhatsApp, which was launched in 2009, is the most popular messaging app platform.
